Rather I meant a general trait which boosts artillery (think infantry leader, cavalry leader, combined arms expert, how etc. - basically like how bearer of artillery works now but more generic) commanded by said generals. As the OP pointed out, some mods already do this to good effect.

You have to go into the tank designer and select a howitzer as main armament. That should create your sp art. You have to make it in the new tank designer. Support artillery is the best way to use arty. One of the best support companies in the game, and recommended on pretty much every division you have.
